Sunday, March 29th at 3 p.m. the most improvisational performance in this year’s series welcomes the towering New York City multi-instrumentalist Scott Robinson with Chicago-area drummer/educator Jack Mouse for a program of spontaneous creative music. Robinson and Mouse appear on record in duet, with the addition of Mouse’s wife, vocalist Janice Borla, and together in The Jack Mouse Quintet. Mouse is currently Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Jazz Studies at North Central College, Chicago. His playing experience is stylistically broad (from Tex Beneke to Stan Kenton) while his daring keeps him relevant in the advanced realm of Chicago’s jazz scene. See jackmouse.com. Scott Robinson’s appearance in the Great Lakes region is a signal event in this year’s concert season. There is no living artist with as broad an instrumental or musically stylistic range at this high a level as Scott Robinson.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door ($10 for students).
